PRI Robotics & Automation (www.prirobotics.com) located in Plymouth, MN is an experienced integrator of robotic systems with an extensive history of providing a variety of productive manufacturing solutions. Our small and capable team solves manufacturing needs such as machine load/unload/tending, welding, dispensing, material handling, assembly, and material removal with custom designed automation solutions. We seek a highly experienced and talented Senior Automation Engineer to lead our system design, application and mechanical design process. This multi-discipline position is our go-to internal resource for creating and designing solutions.
For this position, we seek an Automation, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Systems engineer with deep experience in automation design. This Senior-Level role offers an experienced engineer leadership and hands-on responsibilities from concept & machine design through testing & implementation in delivering a wide range of custom automated solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with sales team on application/automation solution design
- Produce technical concept drawings and / or technical descriptions for proposed solutions
- Design and detail solutions in SolidWorks and collaborate with Project Management and Electrical / Controls team members during the product design stage
- Collaborate with design team on problem resolution and troubleshooting
- Contact and utilize expertise of suppliers, seeking input on component capabilities
- Specify purchased components such as motors, gears, and automation components to complete product/system build
- Serve as technical contact during product build and oversee testing
- Provide technical documentation and technical support as needed
Qualifications and Experience:
- A bachelor or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related engineering field or a combination of education and experience is required
- A minimum of seven years of experience in automation design, machine design, development, and engineering of automation equipment
- Strong engineering fundamentals and experience designing custom manufacturing automation, as well as experience working with equipment suppliers
- Experience with machining/machine shop or welding capabilities, highly desired
- Robotics experience preferred
